UltraHeroix Spotlight: Megagirl

Megagirl

Hi Everyone,
After a little break we are back with the spotlight on our newest Superheroine...Megagirl! She is another another heroine for UltraHeroix.com . This character is another Supergirl inspired heroine like Swiftgirl. She has the similar powers, weaknesses and origins but this version of the Supergirl inspired heroine is black and from another dimension.

Add "Megagirl: The Grim Trials"

Megagirl, as of now exists in another dimension...different from the one Lady Ultra and Swiftgirl exists in. I did this to be able to give her different story lines that won't interfere with the other heroines and to give her own distinct feel. I also feel we should have more African American super heroine 's and this would be a cool twist.

Add "Megagirl: The Grim Trials"

Which brings us to our first story with her, "Megagirl: The Grim Trials". In this story, Megagirl encounters one of our most powerful villains...Grimskull. Megagirl never encountered a powerful villain like this before and at first is very confident but soon the table turn as the villain gains the upper hand.
"Megagirl: The Grim Trials"

Grimskull is a demon from a dark dimension where he abduct people with great power and drains them to sustain himself and his home dimension. He follows a particular set of rules where he must defeat his foe 3 times to get their power while his opponent must only defeat him once. This is harder than it sounds because Grimskull has dark powers that allows him to change form, manipulate energy and open portals besides having great strength and durability. We have met Grimskull before when he fought Dynafly and she was only narrowly able to escape.

"Megagirl: The Grim Trials"

In this story Grimskull has been observing Megagirl for some time and gauged her strength and powers. He sees her as great source of energy. He also discovered her weaknesses in particular magic and Kryptonite. He uses his powers to create a storm and force Megagirl to him in his lair. They battle and after each of his victory Grimskull changes form to battle our heroine until she is thoroughly beaten and weakened for him to carry off into his dimension as his prisoner.

Add "Megagirl: The Grim Trials"

Monica Jade plays Megagirl and she does a phenomenal job in the role portraying the character very heroically and in peril. Check it out at UltraHeroix.com !

Television Review, "Supergirl" TV show

It's been worth the wait but it looks like we have a worthy super heroine television show. So far, Supergirl has been very impressive in how well it is staying in it's comic book roots. This show started in the Fall of 2015 and we are now enjoying the second half of the season in 2016.

The main character is played by Melissa Benoist, and she does an excellent job in the role as Supergirl. She portrays the heroine as inexperienced with something to prove early on in the season but as time goes on she becomes more self confident in her training with her powers and as she fights super villains.

The villains has been pretty good so far as we see a good variety from criminal masterminds to super powered aliens. I have to admit that the first half of the season had better fight scenes that was easier to see. In the second half of the season, the fights appear to be shorter and at night so it's not as easy to see or enjoy. Which leads me to the special effects, which has mostly been good. There has been a fe instances when things looked a bit subpar but the majority like the flight scenes and fight scenes looked great, which show that we've come along way for special effect since the 1980's and the original "Supergirl" movie.

The cast has been very good. Calista Flockhart has been great as Cat Grant, Kara's (Supergirl's secret identity) boss. She has been tough but showed a few signs of a soft heart. The rest of the cast has been strong. The story lines has been pretty easy to follow as we've seen mostly a new villain a week but there has been a few overarching story lines featuring evil krytonians and Maxwell Lord (the show's version of Lex Luthor).

So far, my favorite episode has been the pilot episode but there is enough for me and hopefully fans to keep coming back. I would only hope that they keep the current costume, which is great, they do better fight scenes and have more peril as they go on.

UltraHeroix Spotlight: Swiftgirl

Hi everyone,
I would like to put the spotlight on one of our most popular characters, Swiftgirl.  From her very first video on Ultraheroix.com , Swiftgirl has been our breakout character and is often getting tons of requests to do more videos on.

The Swiftgirl character is inspired by the classic Supergirl character, which is why her costume and powers are very similar. She has super strength, invulnerability, flight, super breathe and laser vision.  She also has similar weaknesses. Like a a green crystal that weakens her and a vulnerability to magic.

Swiftgirl's real name Cor-El and she was sent from another dimension by her scientist father, when her world was embroiled in war by the Warlord Vod and his minions (including Swiftgirl's sister Nuclea) to save her life. When she arrives in the UltraHeroix dimension, she gains her new super abilities and now fights for justice. Her character is nowhere as strong as Supergirl but she is still the most powerful super heroine in the UltraHeroix Universe

In her first video, "Swift Moves" it has been established that Swiftgirl has been an active super heroine for awhile and has taken on a few villains and has always been victorious. One of her most tenacious foes is Mr. Oblivion, a Lex Luthor type character and his hench-woman Tessa. While Mr. oblivion had a vision of riches and powers to be gained through illegal activity, he was always stopped by Swiftgirl. Tessa on the other hand, has a deep hatred and jealousy for Swiftgirl. Tessa had to work hard to become one of strongest women in the world, Swiftgirl was simply blessed with her abilities. So Tessa, finds every opportunity to prove superiority over Swiftgirl but is often humiliated by Swiftgirl. In "Swift Moves" and "Swift Outrage", Mr. Oblivion and Tessa manages to capture Swiftgirl in scheme to steal her power and Tessa takes the opportunity to pummel the powerless Swiftgirl and in the process killing her boss, Mr. Oblivion. In the end, Swiftgirl defeats the villainess but not before Tessa gain new resources and confidence in dealing with Swiftgirl.

We then go to the biggest Swiftgirl and UltraHeroix story lines, the  "Swift Reunion" storyline. In 4 videos we see the arrival of the Warlord Vod to our dimension as he brings his brother Gorn and Swiftgirl's evil sister, Nuclea. After destroying their home world they set their sights on Swiftgirl's new home. The villains overwhelm the young heroine and not even the arrival of another powerful super heroine, American Amazon could save her in "Swift Showdown".

The story carries over to the "Power of Vod" as Vod holds Swiftgirl captive as he searches for a device to help him take over the world. American Amazon returns to help Swiftgirl defeat the leader and finally in "Swift Victory" Swiftgirl takes on the remainder of Vod's gang alone in a final battle to close out the Swift Reunion/Vod storyline.

Now that this storyline is over, we are gearing up to take on the next Swiftgirl storyline.  In the years of UltraHeroix we were very lucky to find awesome actresses to take on the Swiftgirl role and we look forward to bringing you more Swiftgirl stories.

Some idea I'm tossing around is Swiftgirl dealing with an alien invasion, mutants, evil cyborgs and supernatural threats. The only limit is my imagination and budget.

Supergirl movie (1984)

Hi all,
For this installment, I want to talk about one of my favorite super heroine movies and that would be the Supergirl movie from back in 1984. It's not a great movie but a fun one as we see the girl of steel fight evil and falls into a few perils herself.

First off, the actress who plays Supergirl was perfectly cast with Helen Slater. She looked great in the costume and portrayed the heroine very heroically and sold the few perilous moments very well too. The costume itself is the best super girl outfit you could imagine and captures the imagination very well.

Supergirl
The story begins in Argo city, a former city of the planet Krypton existing alone in space (or inner space). The city is being kept alive by an ancient artifact but when it is lost, Kara sets off alone to retrieve it to save her people. She follows the trail to Earth and develops super powers like her cousin Superman. Unfortunately, they never meet in the movie. She dons a similar super outfit and explores her temporary home and makes a few friends.

Supergirl in Phantom Zone
The artifact is found by a witch, who then uses it to boost her magical powers for evil purposes until Supergirl confronts her on a few occasions in the movie until Supergirl is captured and sent off to another dimension. This is my favorite part of the movie as we finally get to see the infamous Phantom Zone and Supergirl encounters peril she never dealt with before. With some help, Supergirl manages to escape the phantom zone for the final showdown with the evil witch.

Swiftgirl
This is a fun movie, although it was seen as flop and not as good as the first 2 Superman movies I feel like it is a must see if you are Christopher Reeve era superman fan and especially if you are a super heroine fan. You can get the DVD at Amazon.com.

I really enjoy the Supergirl character and this movie was very inspirational in my creation of Swiftgirl, who is inspired by this version of Supergirl.
